Vickie’s Story – Cipro and Avelox Toxicity

Vickie FQWall

Here’s my story…Ten years ago I started getting uti’s quite often and every time I was put on Ciprofloxacin. I had been healthy up until this year, 2003. I started noticing severe tendon, muscle, joint pain and went to the doctor who kept saying it was arthritis and other doctors said it was fibromyalgia. I became depressed because I was having so much pain and nobody believed me and I didn’t know what to do. It was all I could do to get through a work day. I was the single mother of 3 kids and it was all taking a toll on me. I became ill with bronchitis which ended up being pneumonia and was put on Avelox. When it didn’t clear up I was put in another round of Avelox. But I kept getting uti’s and every time was put on cipro. In 2005, I had a cystoscopy, and was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (IC), a bladder condition. Here to find out, I never was having uti’s, it was the ic all along. Since then, I’ve had numerous surgeries for things like hysterectomy, abdominal hernias, total knee replacement, etc. Recently after getting my medical records I found out they were giving me cipro through iv form after these surgeries. For the last decade, I have been being put on cipro repeatedly and last yr I discovered what all my pain has stemmed from, the cipro and avelox. I was a healthy 30 something yr old who went from healthy to could barely walk. I have depression, cannot work, have severe pain, neuropathy, and the list goes on. I trusted fully in my doctors and never had a clue as to what was happening to me each time I was given cipro and was feeling worse and worse. Im in my 40s now and hanging on by a thread financially, emotionally and physically. Please lets stop the madness. We need these drugs off the market. My life is forever changed.

Laurie’s Story – Levaquin and Prednisone

Laurie FQWall

I just recently finished my second course of Levaquin since Nov. 2013. Both courses were incorporated with Prednisone in fairly high doses. Twice I was admitted to the hospital for asthma exacerbations and this was part of my course of treatment. I didn’t notice any side effects after the first course, but after the second one, I have been experiencing extreme knee joint pain and swelling. It is difficult to walk from one to another some days. At this point I am still on prednisone to help me breathe, but I have to wonder after doing this research and reading if my joint pain isn’t a result of the Levaquin. I haven’t been back to work since this last bout of asthma and I am not sure how I am going to be able to work. I am a nurse in a busy ER. The thought of walking on these painful knees everyday makes me want to cry.

Kelly’s Story – Levaquin Toxicity

In 2007, at the very young age of 21, I was prescribed the toxic antibiotic known as Levaquin. I was just graduating college to work with people with mental and physical disabilities, little did I know that levaquin would soon leave me permanently disabled.  My adult life was just beginning when Levaquin took my health, and more importantly much of my future. Not all side effects are short term…especially not with the toxicity caused by this class of drugs.  Levaquin affected almost every part of my body.  Here is a  short list of the symptoms I have had to endure as a result of this toxicity, and continue to suffer with on a daily basis to this day.

Heart palpitations-PVCs

Tachycardia(fast heart beat up to 130+)

Bradycardia(slow heart beat)

Postural Orthostatic Hypotension

Neuropathy- Tingling, pricking, numbness, twitching of muscles

Floaters and flashes, blurred and double vision, visual snow, and extreme light sensitivity

Degenerative Joints (knees and wrists being the worst)

Popping joints/crepitus

Dizziness and vertigo

Tremors, Severe Weakness of limbs, and shaking

Tinnitus(ringing of the ears)

Sound sensitivity

Severe Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

Major chronic fatigue and Exhaustion

Adrenaline/cortisol rushes and low/high blood sugar readings

Low and high blood pressure

Chronic Dehydration despite drinking constantly

Constant nausea

Difficulty swallowing

Anxiety, Panic, Depression, and Crying spells

Inability to eat due to major food reactions (stuck eating under 10 foods since being “floxed”)

Central Nervous System and Autonomic Nervous system dysfunction

Chronic Low Body temperature of 96-97(normally 98.6 prior to FQS)

Tendon and Joint Pain

Sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures and to the Sun

Spider veins and thinning skin

Seizure like type episodes

Brain fog

The list goes on and on.…Levaquin has affected my life in every single possible way. I could write a book on all that I have gone through and all that I have lost, but I’ll spare everyone the sad details and share with you what I really want to emphasize.

The damage and loss I have experienced as a result of taking this drug was NOT worth the risk of taking it. Nor was I ever informed of the risks associated with Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics. I write this in hopes it will help educate others, and to use these drugs as a last resort when safer antibiotics can be prescribed for minor infections. I now try to devote what little energy I do have to helping spread awareness and to help manage The Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Group on Facebook for victims of Fluoroquinolone Toxicity and their loved ones.

I still suffer daily with a laundry list of symptoms, and although I try to keep the faith that maybe someday they will slowly disappear, I know there’s a high likely hood that I will be stuck with these “side effects.” On a positive note I have learned a tremendous amount of things and gained a wealth of knowledge that I wouldn’t have had this not happened. I have also met some of the kindest and most caring people who are also victims of FQ Toxicity, and I have developed some wonderful friendships for which I am so very grateful.

Munica’s Story – Levaquin Poisoning

Munica FQWall

Hello~ My name…Munica..the following is my real life story….
It was the year 2002, I was a mail woman, raising four children on my own, a house w a mortgage. On the job I developed walking pneumonia, stubborn woman I am went to work for 3 day w a temp of 103*..needless to say the sent me home…never to return again !
I went to my doctor who knows I am allergic to all antibiotics derived from bacteria, so she put me on this new synthetic one named Levaquin. I took one, repeat one pill, within 5 hours my neck swelled, my ear became like Dumbo, at 3 am I could not turn my head,I was in excruciating pain. I went to the hospital, they sent me home with 800 ml ibuprofen. two days later I became extremely ill, vomiting every 5 minutes, my eyes were spazing, moving back and forth…my children drove me to the hospital after 2 days of this…the under educated hospital sent me home saying i had a bad flu…well this bad flu landed me in bed for …three straight months, if I so much as moved my head an inch I would get severe vertigo. i SLEPT SITTING UP IN A RECLINER FOR 7 YEARS… Once again 3 months later, my children took me to the doc…who said I had the worst case of VERTIGO she had ever seen. Five docs and 2 years later I was diagnosed with BPV,MS AND VESTIBULAR NEURITIS….needless to say i could not return to work and in the fall of 2002 I lost my house,my children had to be placed with their father for the first time ever…my life as I once knew it was shattered. I was an avid runner(5 miles a day) went to the gym, loved to dance and was a very physically fit woman whom never hardly ever got sick… Continue reading

Rest in Peace Chris Dannelly – Levaquin Poisoning

Chris FQWall

NOT to be used as a first line of defense.
Billion of dollars are spent every year on the damage these drugs cause ripping people lives apart.

Who Cares? Not Johnson and Johnson

In December 2012, the Dannelly family posed happily for their Christmas card photo blissfully unaware that it would be their last. One month later Levaquin changed their lives forever. Chris Dannelly (beloved husband and father), came down with a bad cold and went to see a doctor over the weekend. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and was given two pills of Levaquin. Unfortunately, he had an immediate adverse reaction to the fluoroquinolone antibiotics, and began experiencing excruciating limb pain.

Kathy Dannelly (Chris’s wife) took him to see their family physician the following Monday. At that time his doctor saw no sign of pneumonia, but it was too late, he had already taken two pills of Levaquin unnecessarily. The following day he had to be rushed to the emergency room at the John’s Creek, Georgia Emory location with increasing pain. They administered multiple doses of morphine to no avail…the pain never stopped.

Tragically, by Wednesday Chris coded and was charged 18 times in an attempt to save his life. He went into a coma and his death was officially called the following morning on January 17, 2013 at 8:15 am. After reviewing the autopsy report, doctors stated that “all signs point to Levaquin” as being the cause of death. Mr. Dannelly was survived by his loving wife Kathy of 12.5 years, his 7 year old son, and his 4 year old daughter. The last time his children saw him alive he was crying in a wheelchair in unbearable pain. Continue reading

Donald’s Story – Written by his Daughter

Donald FQWall

Leaving tomorrow for the second year in a row to go to Washington DC on my father’s deathiversary to fight for change on how recklessly Fluoroquinolone (Levaquin, Cipro and Avelox) are used with no regard to people lives.

My father did not know why he lost his hearing and his memory along with other issues until he moved it with me and I started my crusade as he read my facebook page he put it together. The doctors had my father on Cipro for 10 years it amazing my father could function at all. Cipro is to be used short term only. My father had many doctors and not one doctor made the connection unfortunately by the time we made the connection it was too late for my father. My father deserved better medical care. Unfortunately most doctor are clueless to the damage these drugs can do since Big Pharma tells the doctors these drugs are safe I know thousands of people that can tell you differently.

This I promise you if you are not paying attention you will be poisoned. The easiest way doctors get you is by putting these meds in IV’s without your knowledge this happens to thousands of people everyday. If you are having surgery always call ahead to verify what drugs they will be using because they don’t tell you for some reason this is not important. I hope we at least get this changed.

There drugs do permanent damage to your DNA this time we have research and a lawyer. I hope this works out and we take Johnon and Johnson, Bayer down to funky town since they know what they are doing to people and have decided to write a stupid credo stating the care….bullshit…They have not helped one person that suffers or the families of people that have died. Someone needs to go to jail for killing and crippling without warning. You may as well enjoy doing illegal drugs. Just because Big Pharma are legal drug pushers does not make it right.

Our crusade will be filmed this time to bring awareness and I hope to see it on TV. I want Big Pharma really bad I know this is only a dream since they are well protected but at least I can hope thousands of people can sue the hell out of them after we get done with them.

I am a Fluoroquinolone survivor this is 100% preventable and should never happen unless the patient is aware and agrees to taking these meds.

I love you Dad and miss you so much! Tears

Rant over!

Jerzy’s Story – Levaquin Poisoning

Jerzy FQWall

My life changed about 1 month after I took 5 tablets of Levaquin on October 2010.Then I started to feel all adverse reactions to the “antibiotic” that I and neither was the doctor prescribing this drug for bladder infection weren’t aware of. This drug happened to be a strong broad-spectrum synthetic chemotherapeutic with a high risk of adverse reactions which doctors prescribe for simple infections, because drug companies like Johnson & Johnson and Bayer described it as safe and with rare adverse reactions and our government allows this to continue. All the symptoms I experienced are 2 pages long and include neurological ,gastro-entorological, cardiological, mitochondria damage, laryngologial ,opthalological, respiratory, allergical , bone and muscles adverse reactions I am not going to mention how much it destroyed my soul and ruined my life in general .It is a very sneaky “drug” or should I called by its real name: Poison? It can rip your body, mind and soul just after 1 pill or you can take it “successfully “ several times but eventually it will get you , sometimes even months later. Nothing is being done to stop it ,because of its hidden, imposter character and lack of information. People spend tons of money to be misdiagnosed, because of so many problems. Doctors also don’t know and are afraid of sick people who they often think are mentally unstable. Drug companies on the other hand are money oriented and prone to hide up any problems to make even more money. They can even “scientifically “ prove that drug is safe to cover up themselves. If nothing is going to happen to stop them many people will continue to suffer including our beloved children. Until an known or important person gets sick nothing is going to change. Let’s change the fate before it is too late.

Catherine’s Story – Cipro Poisoning

Catherine FQWall

I was floxed almost 2 years ago in 2012. I am 60 years old now. I was given 4 rx’s of Cipro/Ciprofloxacin (including 3 days of IV Cipro. in the hospital over a 4 week period, in 2012. The 1st Rx was given on May 21st and the last on June 24th …….when I became officially disabled. My last workday was June 21st, 2012. I was very active up until I was poisoned by Cipro. I went through the police academy at age 51 and became a Master Officer. Before this, I worked for 23 years in shipping / receiving . I worked as a jail officer for 7 years, with excellent reviews, and raises. I walked as many as 3000 stair steps a day in addition to regular walking. Before this, I worked for 23 years in shipping / receiving . I hiked the Blue Ridge Parkway as a hobby, enjoyed hunting and fishing, did trail rides with horses, liked gardening and tending to my yard/mini farm, etc… Sad to report they are things I haven’t been able to do today,

as a result of the Cipro toxicity. Continue reading

Casandra’s Story – Ciprofloxacin Nightmare

Cassandra FQWall

My Ciprofloxacin Nightmare:

More than a year ago I went through a battery of surgeries for a condition called Unilateral Microtia Atresia but I was doing a revision repair. The revision repair was to change what was done to my ear when I was a teen but the results failed the first three times, so I felt confident enough to let another doctor who specialized in facial plastic surgery perform on my ear for the best results. This condition requires at least three to four surgeries until that person is satisfied with the results.

The first surgery required some rib cartilage grafting which is the hardest of the rest of the stages. I stayed in the hospital for five days because I had a punctured lung from the graft surgery and that happened because the tools used to cut cartilage slipped and poked my lung. The second surgery was a skin graft because I didn’t have enough skin to cover the ear once it was elevated from the skull base for a natural ear shape. The third stage was for contouring to give my new ear more of a shape and ear-like features (helix and canal). Continue reading
