Robin’s Story – Cipro Poisoning

Robin FQWall

Hi there – 3 years ago I was put on Cipro for a UTI. I was also put on Levaquin & Bactrim for months. I had a hysterectomy & they had me on IV Cipro for a week. I was an active working mom of two, one with special needs. Now I am beat up from 3 years of tests, procedures, doctor appts, acupuncture, chiropractic. craniosacral therapy, nerve blocks, injections, meds. PT. surgeries & daily relentless chronic pain. Diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia, interstitial cystitis, sacroiliitis, vestibulitis & more. I reversed the severe fibromyalgia by following the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol. My diabetes also went away. Now I am told I must go on a low oxalate diet. I am taking magnesium, CoQ10 & nascent iodine, and probiotics. I am always overwhelmed but I fight on for my family. They need me. Thanks for listening

  1. Hi Robin—As if you didn’t have enough on your plate WITHOUT the FLQs!!! Great to hear of your improvements. Something else you may want to look into that I mentioned in an earlier post is pulsed magnetic therapy (usually called pemf) if you can find a naturopath that has a machine. It should help with the pain. Also, Phosphatidylcholine IVs and high dose vitamin C IVs. The former helps (among other things) with nerve damage and mitochrondrial damage that we all suffer, and the latter has a ton of benefits especially in helping to rebuild damaged collagen. (I get them both with glutathione which also gets depleted.)
Thankfully, after a whirlwind of 12 MDs and various tests within two months, I decided they had nothing to offer me (esp after one said I was delusional and another wanted a brain scan) and went to a naturopath—had never been to one before so I was nervous but it was the best decision I made.

I think your kids are lucky to have such a strong, tenacious mom!

  2. Dearest Robin,
Thank-you for sharing your story. You are one more testimony to the devastating effects of the monstrosity called fluoroquinalone drugs. Perhaps the medical system will never take responsibility for what they have done and continue to do, by prescribing such poison, but your voice will touch others and help them either understand what has happened to them, too, or it will prevent them from taking the drugs in the first place. People are becoming savvy and they are doing more searches on the internet before they take drugs. If you help just one person to avoid taking these drugs, you have saved a person from the devastation you have experienced. Thank-you for caring enough about others to share what has happened to you. I hope you can discover advantageous treatments to speed along your recovery. In time you will be able to look back and feel a great sense of empowerment and self-respect for having fought the battle and survived it. May your family support you and love you for your strength and determination to press on.

  3. Hello Robin,
Your story sounds very similar to mine. Only mine occurred right after 911. I was put on cipro for a very bad UTI. It was a very devistating time in our lives and being that I live in Staten Island, New York, you could see the smoke from the towers from my home. I worked as a physical therapist at the time and cipro was the drug of choice that doctors were giving out for everything. I was one of the lucky one’s who got it. After the exact day of October 26, 2001, my life would never be the same again. I woke up that day with the most excruciating burning pain which I’m sure you are well aware of. First diagnosis was. VULVODYNIA. Then after 15 years later and several different treatments. Diagnosis went from that to: gastrointestinal problems, vulvar vestibulitis, 3 unnessecary horrific vaginal surgeries, partial hysterectomy, foot drop, pudendal neuralgia , 6 nerve blocks, falls lots of them, loss of my career as a physical therapist and in the process of going for radial frequency. Not to mention a list of holistic medications and pharmaceuticals and I live using coconut oil. I even had medicines compounded with coconut oil. I feel your story and feel your pain. 3 years after I took the cipro I got in touch with I lawyer who said I didn’t meet there criteria like the ones do today. So, I gave up on that story. I’m just trying to learn how to accept this as my life now. Being permenantly disable now. I try to look for the positive in why these type of things happen to good people. But then I think back to that time when I took the cipro and say to myself imagine what those people went through. I try to help get through it that way and I have some really great doctors now. I think it’s sad how the pharmaceutical companies get away with putting poison on the market that can destroy a persons life and excuse me for being a hard ass for saying this but if you don’t fit into the category of what destroys a person life the way a lawyer seems fit. Then your out. Sorry for saying that. I just needed to. I hope you are doing better Robin. You are in my thoughts and prayers as are all woman who are in our situation.
